Key Points in Formula Design for Butyl Reclaimed Rubber Sealant Strips

When producing sealant strips with butyl reclaimed rubber, formulas must be tailored to the application, focusing on vulcanization, reinforcement, softening, and anti-aging systems.


1. Vulcanization System: Common systems include sulfur, resin, and quinoid oxime. Sulfur offers good processability and strength; quinoid oxime provides superior aging and compression set resistance but cures slower; p-quinone dioxime excels in heat resistance.

2. Reinforcement System: Carbon black is key. Fine-particle carbon black (e.g., SAF) increases strength, while larger-particle (e.g., thermal black) enhances elongation.

3. Softening System: Plasticizers like paraffin or naphthenic oil improve processability and flexibility.

4. Anti-Aging System: Although inherently resistant, adding anti-aging agents based on the environment further extends service life.


Well-designed formulas, potentially blended with virgin butyl or EPDM rubber, can meet diverse industry requirements effectively.
