PUR Hot Melt Adhesive Lamination Machine in the Production of Outdoor Functional Fabrics

Outdoor functional fabrics are required to simultaneously meet core performance criteria such as water resistance, breathability, abrasion resistance, UV resistance, and resistance to extreme temperatures. They are widely used in products including waterproof jackets, outdoor tents, mountaineering backpacks, and ski suits. The production of such fabrics often involves laminating multiple layers of different materials (e.g., polyester base cloth, TPU waterproof film, Gore film, PTFE film, Lycra, and breathable mesh). The lamination process must satisfy the following key requirements:

Preserve the original functionality of the fabric (e.g., prevent adhesive layers from clogging breathable pores and avoid compromising the sealing performance of waterproof films);


Achieve high lamination strength to withstand outdoor scenarios such as stretching, friction, and washing;

Boast excellent weather resistance to adapt to a temperature difference of -30℃~80℃ and long-term UV irradiation;

Be eco-friendly and odorless, complying with international environmental standards such as the EU REACH and US FDA.

Core Advantages of PUR Hot Melt Adhesive Lamination Machine

Compared with traditional solvent-based lamination machines, the PUR (Polyurethane Reactive) hot melt adhesive lamination machine has irreplaceable advantages in the production of outdoor functional fabrics:


01 Precisely Preserve Fabric Functionality

Breathable without clogging: PUR hot melt adhesive is applied in dot or line patterns, with the adhesive dot diameter controllable at 0.3~0.8mm. After curing, it forms an elastic adhesive layer that will not block the breathable micropores of fabrics or waterproof films (e.g., the microporous structure of GORE-TEX film), ensuring the air permeability of the laminated fabric remains above 5000g/(㎡·24h) (meeting the first-class air permeability standard for outdoor fabrics).

Superior water resistance and sealing performance: The adhesive layer formed after PUR curing features excellent water resistance and strong adhesion to outdoor fabric substrates such as polyester and TPU (peel strength ≥3N/25mm), preventing rainwater from seeping through the gaps of the laminated layer. The waterproof rating of the laminated fabric can reach above 5000mmH₂O.


02 Exceptional Weather Resistance and Durability

Resistance to extreme temperatures and aging: The polyurethane elastomer formed after PUR curing maintains elasticity in the range of -40℃~120℃. No cracking or yellowing of the adhesive layer occurs after 1000 hours of simulated outdoor exposure to UV rays, solving the problems of low-temperature embrittlement and high-temperature adhesive bleeding associated with traditional EVA adhesives.

Wash and friction resistance: Fabrics laminated with PUR can withstand more than 50 industrial wash cycles (60℃ water temperature, standard detergent) without delamination or wrinkling of the laminated layer, and the color fastness to rubbing remains above Grade 4 (per GB/T 3920 standard).


03 Efficient and Eco-Friendly Production Features

Solvent-free and zero pollution: PUR hot melt adhesive requires no solvent dilution and produces no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions during production, meeting the environmental requirements for the export of outdoor fabrics and eliminating fabric odor caused by solvent residues.

High production efficiency: The PUR lamination machine is equipped with a constant temperature coating system (coating temperature 120~160℃, precisely adjustable), with a coating speed of up to 20~40m/min.
